Her dad works in London for a soccer team, while her mom runs a small physical therapy clinic nearby in Asturias.
School starts at 8:30am and ends at 2:30pm. There are six class periods in the day. Each period is 55 minutes long, and there is a 30-minute break called "recreo" at 11:15am. Many kids, like Vera, have a snack during this break. The most typical snack is a small ham sandwich, called a pincho.
Most days, Vera takes the bus to school. If she sleeps over at her grandparents' house, which happens occasionally, she will walk to school. She makes both of these journeys by herself.
The school day ends at 2:30pm, and Vera goes to eat with her grandparents most days. Her favorite food is a spaghetti with zucchini, a dish that her dad likes to cook for the family. In terms of snacks, Vera mentioned that she loves the green Doritos and passionfruit Fuze tea.
Vera takes some classes in Spanish and some classes in English as part of the bilingual program at our school. She also takes French classes as one of her electives. "Hello" in Spanish is "hola."
