Because I lived in a dorm while studying at college in Hawaii, I was able to adjust to the housing situation here pretty quickly. However, there are a few more rules here that I must abide by! And if I break any of the rules, I get “penalty points”. After earning 50 points, I will have to leave the dorms. Each of the rules they have listed corresponds with a set amount of points. For example, here, I have a midnight curfew from Sunday night to Thursday night. If I go out with some friends on Thursday night and do not come back by midnight, I will get in trouble and earn 10 points. Another rule is that I must make sure I keep my room clean at all times. Once a month, they do a “room check” where they will come inside the rooms and check to make sure we are not keeping anything illegal here. If my room is dirty or if they find something that I am not supposed to have, I will earn 10 points for each item. There are even some small rules, such as not allowing shoes inside the room. If they catch me with my shoes on, I will get two penalty points.

Despite the rules here, the rest of the building is better than the dorms back in Hawaii! For starters, the security here is much tighter. At midnight on curfew nights, the doors will automatically lock.
