Traveler Bio

Hi, I'm Shasta, a Studio Arts student from California State University in Chico, spending the next academic year here in Mainz, Germany. I've always loved making art and being able to share my voice through creating things by hand and telling stories through images.

Growing up, I never imagined I'd have the chance to live in another country. As a first generation college student, studying abroad felt like a dream that was far out of reach, but now I am here living it. I'm excited to experience everyday life in Germany, learn more about its art and history, improve my German, and explore places I've only ever seen in books and pictures.

When I am not in the studio, you'll probably find me wandering through old streets, visiting castles along the Rhine River, trying new foods, or figuring out how to navigate trains across Europe. Every day brings something new, whether it's learning a German phrase, discovering a local tradition, or getting lost and finding an unexpected adventure.

Through Reach the World, I hope to show students what it is really live abroad. The exciting moments, the challenges, and the surprises that come with stepping outside your comfort zone. I want to prove that big adventures can start with one brave decision, and I'm excited to bring you along as I explore Germany one day at a time.
