Hola a todos! Hello everyone!
My name is Shaleena Brooke, and I’m originally from Edmond, Oklahoma. I went to school in Edmond, but I also spent a lot of time traveling around Oklahoma and Kansas to visit family in small towns or on family farms. During my childhood, a good chunk of my time was dedicated to playing soccer. I’ve played soccer since I was four years old, and I still play today.
At 18 years old, I moved to Albuquerque to study at the University of New Mexico. I earned two bachelor's degrees in Economics and International Relations, with minors in Spanish and Statistics. I learned about how governments and financial systems function around the world. For example, I learned how trade agreements are decided between countries and how businesses react to changes in international policy.
During college, I traveled to six different countries -- Ecuador, Britain, France, Austria, Hungary, and Taiwan -- along with many places around the United States. Many of my travels were supported through Model United Nations (UN), which is an extracurricular activity I helped lead in college. Through Model UN, I met friends from around the world, which fostered my desire to travel.
