A Day in the Life of a Local Hongkonger

What types of clothing do you like to wear?:

I tend to wear T-shirts and sneakers with most of my outfits, and I especially love khaki pants. I don't have a good reason why, though!

What do you like to do in your free time?:

Typically, I spend my free time working on my homework assignments, or with my friends. I also enjoy playing video games every once in a while.

What language(s) do you speak? How do you say "Hello" in your language?:

My native language is Cantonese, and I can also speak Mandarin Chinese and English quite well. My parents are from the Toisan region, and because of this I am able to understand Toisanese, and even speak a little of it! In Cantonese, "Hello" is "Hello." We do not use Ni hao, and if you do hear someone saying Ni hao, it is likely that they are a Mandarin speaker first, and learned Cantonese afterwards.

Do you have pets?:

Under the rules of my estate building, no pets are allowed.

Have you traveled? Where have you traveled to?:

At this point in my life, I have not traveled very much. I have been to Tokyo, Japan and Beijing, as well as many other Mainland China cities near the border of Hong Kong, such as Guangzhou and Shenzhen. I've also been to the special administrative region (S.A.R.) of Macau. I would love to travel to Taiwan someday!

What do you do for work?:

I work part-time jobs while studying Computer Science. Most of them are related to education in some way. I have a part-time job at the university library, and I also each kids about robotics and STEM field opportunities on the weekend.
