Life in Madrid has been abundant with cultural festivities this month, so while I plan for future adventures during our spring break, exploring areas closer to my neighborhood has been very immersive, financially efficient and has allowed me to connect better with Madrileño culture.
As for how to get around, the metro here works well, and a student metro card costs 10 euros per month for unlimited rides, which includes taking the train far outside of the realm of the city, which is great for day trips.

It is Carnaval season here in Madrid, so there are many pop-up parades featuring people from all over the country dressed in traditional costumes. This is an annual celebration the week before Lent begins, celebrated throughout February. Imagine a Halloween in February - costumes, parades, dancing!
