Take a Ride on the Dublin Bus

Introduction:

Every city in the world has its own combination of trains, cars, buses, bikes and other ways of moving from one place to another. Getting around Dublin is a lot like getting around an American city. First, the roads are filled with cars, taxis, motorcycles and bicycles, which local people use to get to work or school each day. In addition, Dublin has a few great public transportation options. The tram system, called the Luas, runs down busy streets to carry you between important parts of the city. Trams run on street level, so you can watch the world go by as you travel. If you want to get a little bit away from the city, Dublin's train system, the DART, can take you to coastal towns like Howth, on the ocean just west of Dublin. And most importantly, Dublin has a huge system of buses that wind around the city all day.

How do people get around?:

The Dublin Bus company offers the most common and popular kind of transportation in Dublin. The Dublin Bus has over 200 routes and 5,000 stops around the city. The Dublin Bus is the most convenient way to get around the city, because there are so many different routes going in every direction. Walking down the street, you can usually spot at least one bus every few minutes. Sometimes, especially in the crowded city center, buses drive one after another, like a big congo line of commuters.
