Weekend in Sligo

Photos

This day was sunny, but it rains an average of 44.5 inches a year in Sligo
This river is called Garavogue (An Gharbhóg in Irish), which means "little rough one", though the water is fairly calm in the center of town
Like many towns in Ireland, Sligo has lots of small, multi-colored rows of houses
One reason we went to Sligo was to learn about W.B. Yeats, one of Ireland's most famous poets (and a huge fan of this tiny town)
My classmates standing on a dock near the Lake Isle of Innisfree (the island out there), which Yeats wrote about in a famous poem
Our tour guide took us to see Drumcliff Cemetery, where Yeats is buried
This tree-covered walk near the cemetery looked so pretty that I could see why Yeats liked writing about Sligo's landscapes
Glencar Waterfall is another beautiful site made famous by a Yeats poem
