It is May and the school year is probably coming to an end for all of you! I still have some time here in Ecuador, but I also know what it’s like when school starts winding down, especially if you’re a senior. That moment you have been waiting for is almost here, but you know that you’re also saying goodbye to a lot of people. Exciting, and a little sad, but full of promises for all the new adventures that you will have in the next phase of your life.

In my own way, I will be experiencing something like that when my service in the Peace Corps ends and I go back home. It’s about five months away. I might have thought that five months was a long time before, but the time seems to be flying by too quickly. Has your last semester at school felt that way too? You think you have so much time to do everything, and suddenly you realize that the list of “things to do” hasn’t changed much, but the time available is rapidly passing.

With that in mind, I have been trying to do more things spontaneously. There is an indigenous lady who sells fruits on the street near my office.
