Diverse Natural Landscapes in Jordan

Journal Entry:

Jordan’s natural landscapes are vast and diverse. The beauty of the land isn’t just found in the spectacular views but also in the customs and activities that are tied to the natural surroundings. Jordan is known for its lush greenery and mountainous terrain in the north, where olive picking is a notable tradition in the fall. In the south, you'll find the breathtaking desert valleys of Wadi Rum, where you’ll sit beside a sandstone mountain and feel the serene atmosphere as you sip a cup of tea. No matter where you choose to have your adventure, Jordan’s natural landscapes carry a unique charm, and spending your time with locals will leave you with memorable stories to take away. My friends and I were honored with the opportunity to explore a few natural environments in Jordan, and we learned so much from the local communities there.

History Preserved in Nature

Engaging with the natural environment allowed us to learn about the deep history that the trees and mountains of Jordan hold. Several cities in northern Jordan have vast fields of olive trees. Around late October, we visited a beautiful family owned olive grove in Ajloun to get a glimpse of a few customs that take place as the olive harvesting season blooms.
