¡Hola viajeras (Hello travelers)! My name is Sahana. I am 23 years old and a Reach the World traveler to Barcelona, Spain. I am from Corvallis, Oregon, but lived in Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Washington DC before heading to the Pacific Northwest. One of my favorite activities is going to the beach, which comes from living near a body of water for all my life. I also enjoy dance, which I started when I was six years old and continued pre-professionally until I was 18.
In college at Oregon State University, I studied Biophysics and Spanish and spent lots of time working in a biochemistry lab. Learning about how proteins work and their effect on human health was my favorite topic, which became my motivation for applying to the U.S. Fulbright Student Program. My family also inspired me to seek out new experiences, which could expand my horizons and to chase my dreams. Now, I have the wonderful opportunity to study a protein involved in autism spectrum disorder at the Institute for Research in Biomedicine in Barcelona.
Outside of the lab, I am hoping to volunteer, take flamenco lessons, and explore the city. I will be sharing my adventures in Spain and the culture, language, and opportunities here with all of you. Let's get started and learn together!
