Hello travelers, and ¡Bienvenidos (Welcome) to Spain! My name is Sahana Shah, and I am from Corvallis, Oregon. Before Oregon, I lived in Washington DC, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Missouri, and now, Barcelona. As you can see, I am an experienced domestic traveler, but am new to this internationally. I am excited to share my story with you and learn your perspectives too.

When I was four years old, my younger sister Annika was born in Philadelphia. Two years later, she was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), meaning that Annika has some difficulty with social interaction and skills. I didn’t know it then, but my family’s journey with Annika would continue to influence my life, and it would be my motivation for eventually coming to Spain.

In 2015, my family and I moved to Corvallis, Oregon, a beautiful university town surrounded by mountains and forests. This is where I went to high school and college. At Oregon State University, I studied Biochemistry and Biophysics with Neuroscience and Spanish. Basically, I am interested in how human life works by studying molecules called proteins, which we cannot see without scientific tools such as microscopes. I researched the structure and function of a COVID protein, learning how to make and analyze these molecules in the lab.
