Life as a Kid in Gbrumani

I then go get more water and start helping prepare dinner. After dinner, I help do dishes then bathe my siblings and get them ready for bed. I then do my schoolwork and then take a bath and go to bed when I finish.  

What jobs do your parents have?:

My mother stays at home and takes care of the household and children and my father is a farmer. 

What time does school start, and what time do you go home?:

School starts at 7:30 and I go home at 2:30.

How do you get to school? Are you allowed to go to school by yourself?:

I walk to school. Our school is in our community so it is very close and easy to get to. Everyone walks by themselves or with their friends or siblings. 

Where do you eat lunch? What is your favorite food?:

I go home to eat lunch, my favorite food is jollof  (a flavorful rice dish).

What language do you speak at school? How do you say "Hello" in your language?:

We speak English and Dagbani at school. You say "hello" in the morning by saying "dasiba", in the afternoon by saying "antiree" and in the evening by saying "aniwula".

What are some common kids' names at your school?:

Some common names for boys are Inusah, Yussif, Hamza and Mohammed. Some common girls names are Rahama, Fatima, Zainab and Meriam.

What subjects do you study in school, and which one is your favorite?:

We study math, science, creative arts, english and social studies. My favorite is English.
