Most people dread Mondays. I can relate to the feeling. I know it was even harder when I woke up at 6 a.m. for high school, so hang in there. However, yesterday, a Sunday, I was already itching for it to be the next day! At the start of this week, I had the privilege of listening to the former Prime Minister of Norway, Erna Solberg, speak on ocean security and the hopes and necessary actions needed for a sustainable ocean economy of the future. She came here to Tromsø to speak at our university for a talk hosted by our school's Ocean Leadership Master's Program & the Centre for the Ocean and the Arctic. Erna Solberg is not the first but the second female prime minister in Norway's history. It was a pleasure to listen to a powerful woman in global politics who has humanistic points of view regarding education and the environment.
As the head of Norway’s government from 2013 to 2021, Erna launched the High-Level Panel for a Sustainable Economy, a panel of currently 17 world leaders meant to build momentum in achieving a sustainable ocean economy, with a particular focus on equity and sustainable ocean fisheries.
