Farewell from Amsterdam

What would you show in your town  to someone visiting from another country? What do you think makes America special and different?

One thing is for sure: I have learned so much during my time here, and I hope that you have learned from my journals too. What was your favorite fact that you learned about the Netherlands? I will always remember biking to work, seeing canals everywhere I go, and eating delicious Gouda cheese in Amsterdam--I will also definitely remember all of the cute restaurant cats I have seen on my dining adventures! I have learned a lot from Dutch people about being honest and hardworking, and I hope that I will be able to take that no-nonsense Dutch attitude back to America. I have learned about how hard it can be to not speak the main language of a country, and I will make sure that I am as welcoming to non-native English speakers in the U.S.A. as the Dutch have been to me because I have seen what it feels like to be alone in a new country. I will also be sorry to miss most of the long summer days that are starting to appear here in Amsterdam--but I definitely will be glad to be back in America this winter, so I get to enjoy a lot more sun and a lot less rain! Someday, I hope that I can come back to Amsterdam and remember all of the fun times I have had here. I hope that you all get the chance to visit this country as well someday, or at least come explore some of the other amazing countries in Europe! Have a great end of your school year and a very fun summer--Doei Doei (Bye bye!)
