This is fresh raw herring (a fish) that is soaked in salt water to preserve it. I was scared to eat this dish at first because it looks a bit strange, but I actually found it very delicious! Have you ever had smoked salmon on a bagel? It tastes a bit like that! As you can see, we did not run out of new foods to try in the Netherlands, and I can honestly say I liked everything that I tasted!
