Farewell to You!

In my last two weeks here I have been finishing a project that offers cancer patients an easier way to find treatment, completely for free. I can't imagine a cooler thing to be working on, and my teammates are equally passionate about our work. To say goodbye to me, they took me out to dinner, which was really wonderful and fun. I'm going to miss their determination and friendship.

I am thinking a lot about the things I want to do before I leave. It's my bucket list! I went down way to the south of Israel to Eilat, where I got to scuba dive on the Red Sea. I love scuba diving, and getting the chance to do it here was amazing. Israel is the shape of a diamond, so at the bottom it is very skinny and creates a triangular tip. To the west is Egypt and to the east is Jordan, and when I was on the boat to the dive site I got to see both countries.

I did two dives, one on a reef where I got to see some incredible fish. Unfortunately I don't have an underwater camera, so I can't show you any of the aquatic life I saw, but I saw a turtle and some really brightly colored fish. The second dive was on a ship that was used by the military, and when they retired it they sank it to create an artificial reef. The idea behind sinking a ship intentionally is that divers will be able to go and explore it, but also that it will support marine life by giving hard and soft coral a useful new surface to grow on.

Last week in Tel Aviv we hosted an international event called Eurovision, which I had never heard of before arriving here. It's a lot like American Idol, but rather than individual people competing, countries across Europe send a representative to perform a song and dance routine.
