Bucaramanga: The Environment

Introduction:

Bucaramanga is 3,000 feet above sea level, but the towns in the mountains surrounding it can get up to over 4,000 feet. This means while you are driving out of the city, you are traveling uphill through mountains. It's absolutely beautiful, but depending on the weather or rainfall, it can be a little dangerous. However, engineers are working on how we can both enjoy the beauty of the mountains, while also being safe and making sure there is always an open route to travel between the city and beyond.

What makes this environment special or different?:

Bucaramanga is within the Andes mountains. It doesn't have any bodies of water, but the weather is between 70-80 degrees Fahrenheit all year round! Because of the mountains and consistent temperature, different types of fruit can constantly be produced in the surrounding areas of Bucaramanga because of the consistency in climate. So there is always access to fresh, local fruit year-round!

What parts of this environment help people to live here?:

The consistent climate makes certain businesses sustainable. Rainfall is fairly consistent year-round as well, as there isn't a distinct rainy or dry season. The city is also more so surrounded by mountains, so you can drive out to enjoy them, but in the city, the roads and housing are not affected by them.
