Since I have been seeing more ants than normal, I have become more interested in them. Did you know that ants can lift 10-50x their own body weight? That would be like me being able to carry two T-Rex dinosaurs!
Ants communicate using pheromones, which are chemicals that ants produce. They touch each other with their antennae and communicate the message. They signal to other ants that there is danger ahead, there is no food left or where the path is that they are following. You can see ants touching each other sometimes for these reasons.
Because ants are so small, many things can harm them. But currently, there are plenty here where I'm living, so we are not worried about them.
