Our News

What music did I listen to this week?:

I listened to Afrobeats, which brings a familiar sound from home into my days abroad. I like how a song can connect different places. I can be looking out at a completely new view while listening to music that reminds me of Ghana.

What activity was the most fun this week?:

Exploring Santorini was the most fun. I loved seeing the white buildings, colorful flowers and blue sea together. My photos became a way to collect little details from the trip. I took wide pictures of the views, but I also made sure to get into a few myself. Otherwise, you might think I had sent my camera on vacation without me!

What did I read this week?:

I am currently reading Purple Hibiscus by Nigerian writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. It follows a teenager named Kambili as she learns to find her voice. I enjoy how books let me explore another person’s world while I am discovering a new place myself.

I also read articles for my public health classes, where we study how to help whole communities stay healthy. Outside class, I read menus, signs and travel information. Reading a menu has a very useful reward at the end... lunch!

What games or sports did I play this week?:

I played a casual game of soccer with friends this week. It was a fun break from classes and a chance to spend time together away from our desks. With the Panathenaic Stadium right beside our classroom, we have a pretty impressive neighbor for sports inspiration!

Other news from this week:

One of the most unusual things about my life in Athens is my classroom’s neighbor.
