It had lots of different layers with cream and a chocolate shell.
I've been listening to German radio a lot. The station I listen to most is a community radio, so it plays different types of music at different times. They often play American music!
I loved visiting the Kürbisausstellung this weekend. It was the perfect fall activity for Halloween. The festival was set up on the grounds of the Ludwigsburg Palace, which is a baroque resistential palace built in the early 1700s. The palace and the gardens were massive, so there was lots of space to wander around.
I've been reading a lot for my archaeology classes. I'm taking a class now on the Ottoman Empire. One of the books I've been reading is Before European Hegemony, by Janet Abu-Lughod, which talks about trade systems in the Europe and Asia around the 13th century. It's very interesting to hear about how places so far apart were so connected.
This semester, I signed up for a rowing course. I'm learning how to row in a boat with teammates on the Neckar river. It's taught in German, which is a good challenge, and the river is beautiful in the early morning! There are often ducks swimming around.
I started my classes recently, which take place in the Tübingen Castle! In German the castle is called Schloss Hohentübingen (schlos ho-hen-tou-bing-en). From the windows of my classrooms, you can see hills in the distance for miles and miles. It's incredible!
