In all restaurants and cafes water is completely free and you can serve yourself as much as you want.

What was the best meal this week?:

The best meal I had this week was 부대찌개 (Budae Jjigae) and 군만두 (fried dumplings). The 부대찌개 is a Jjigae (찌개) which means Korean stew. It was made with kimchi broth, ramen and glass noodles, soft tofu, bok choi, beans, cheese, sausage, spam, ham, flat rice cakes (tteok) and enoki mushrooms. The 군만두  (fried dumoplings) were made out of dumpling skin with a tofu and meat filling with some scallions and other greens. They are deep fried in oil and are very crispy! I got both of these at a vegan Korean food restaurant, 비건 키친 (Vegan Kitchen), meaning all of this was completely made out of plants.

What music did I listen to this week?:

This week I’ve been listening to BTS almost everywhere. Due to their recent new song release, many restaurants and stores have been playing them nonstop either to draw clients in or show their support. I have also been exploring more into the concept of Arirang, which BTS used for one of their new album’s songs, Body to Body. Arirang is Korea's most iconic folk song and is often considered almost an unofficial national anthem (fun fact: it is listed as a UNESCO cultural heritage item). Because of their history of outside invasions and resilience, this song has a deep meaning for Koreans. I have listened to different versions of it and think it’s extremely beautiful, and both the sorrow and hope it carries can be felt in every note.
