A bottle of water usually costs from 1,000-2,000 riel (0.25-0.50 cents). Since I have a water filter at home, I don't buy too many bottles of water. On hot days, I love a cold cup of fresh sugar cane juice or coconut water, which you can buy for about the same price as a bottle of water.
The best meal I had this week was Cambodian barbecue, served over rice of course! On Sunday evening, we grilled up some pork and veggies, including okra, onions, carrots, mushrooms and morning glory. Grilling everything was a lot of fun, and eating with rice and a variety of dipping sauces was delicious. For dessert, we had a sweet bean porridge and fresh fruit. Chngan! (Delicious!)
This week, during my bike rides I listened to a lot of UPPERROOM and Abbie Gamboa worship music. At the gym, I usually listen to Cambodian hip-hop artists such as VannDa, or I listen to Reggaeton music. And while teaching, I will sometimes play upbeat music while playing hot potato, and this week we listened to Taylor Swift.
This past weekend, I went swimming for the first time in Cambodia! There is a guest house in my town with a big swimming pool, and I visited the pool with my host mom and siblings. The water was so refreshing in the heat of the afternoon, and it was a lot of fun showing my host siblings how to do handstands and somersaults in the water, then having competitions to see who could hold their breath the longest.
