The main languages spoken here are Albanian and English. Many Albanians from the older generation also know quite a bit of Italian and some Russian. It is common for Albanians to speak at least three languages.
The currency here is lek! Two hundred lek is close to $1.80 USD.
A bottle of water costs 60 lek, so about 70 cents! In Albania you can't drink the tap water, so I always have to purchase water bottles.
The best meals are always meals that my family cooks. We ate lamb, stuffed peppers and one of my favorite albanian dishes, fergese, a stew with peppers, cheese and tomatoes. For dessert I had trilece, which is the Albanian adaptation of tres leches! Many Albanian desserts (tullumba, kadaif, baklava and Shëndetlie, for example) are soaked in a sweet honey or sugar syrup which make them extra sticky, extra sweet and extra yummy!
