When buying water in Germany, and actually Europe in general, the ‘normal’ water to buy is typically sparkling water (or mit kohlensäure). You can find regular, still water as well, but it is definitely not as popular. A one liter bottle costs 0.29 euros with a pfand of 0.25 euros. A pfand is a deposit. You pay an extra 25 cents when buying the bottle, and if you bring back the empty bottle later, you get the 25 cents back. This is a way that Germany encourages people to recycle!
Last Thursday was the last day of work for a colleague of mine at the school, so we had a potluck to celebrate. I brought some chocolate cheesecake I made, and one colleague brought the most delicious homemade spread. It was a salty sweet chickpea spread with crushed dates inside, and it tasted so spectacular on the fresh and crunchy bread rolls someone else had brought.
Recently I have been obsessed with Celtic music. I like the style of it, with how heartfelt and floaty it sounds, as well as how much the faster songs make me want to dance. The songs sung in the original Irish language are most certainly my favorite. The artist I have been listening to the most is called Hannah Flowers.
