What music did I listen to this week?:

Lately I have found myself listening to more “chill” music by a band from Chinatown in NYC called Chanpan. A couple of my favorite Mongolian bands that I also like to listen to recently include The Lemons and The Galtmah. I even saw The Galtmah live a couple months ago at Ulaanbaatar's Hard Rock Cafe!

What activity was the most fun this week?:

This week I got to slide down the ice sculpture in Sukhbaatar Square (the center of Ulaanbaatar)! I have loved passing by and getting to slide down these ice sculptures which were made for the New Year and are placed throughout the city. It is one of my favorite parts of winter time in the coldest capital in the world!

What did I read this week?:

Inspired by my recent visit to the Bogd Khan Museum, I have been reading about the Chinese Qing Dynasty and Bogd Khan’s life lately. I have particularly been interested in the multiple Mongolian Independence days, which are debatable depending on who you talk to. Within the past century, Mongolia has had many interesting governmental changes.

What games or sports did I play this week?:

This week I learned to play checkers for the first time with one of my friend’s little brothers. He is only 10 but was surprised to learn that I had never played before!
