The best meal I had this week was a cheese and chili sandwich from my college cafeteria. It was hot and crispy, just like a grilled cheese, and honestly, it looked like one, too! The cheese almost melted in my mouth with a little spicy kick from the chilies. It was served with a tangy tomato sauce on the side, which made it even better.
I listened to a lot of Kollywood music, which is Tamil movie music made in Chennai. Kollywood is like Hollywood, but it gets its name from Kodambakkam, the area where many Tamil films are made in Chennai. Most of the songs I listen to come from movies, and one of my favorites right now is "Sollamal Thottu Sellum Thendral". The title means “the gentle breeze that passes by you without saying a word,” and it matches the calm, rainy feeling of the city for me right now.
Since it’s been raining a lot, we’ve had to come up with fun things to do indoors. This week, I took my cousin to an arcade in the city, where we played tons of racing games and challenged each other. We also tried virtual reality games that made it feel like we were inside the screen. It was the perfect way to escape the rainy weather.
I love reading and writing poetry, so this week I picked up The Selected Works of Rumi. Rumi was a Iranian philospher who lived over 800 years ago and wrote poems about love, hope and how people connect with language. His words are still read around the world today.
