At the top of the Hard Rock Café in Brussels, we chowed down on turkey, stuffing, sweet potato mash, and pumpkin pie. I truly miss American food at this point in the trip, so this was the best meal of the week.
Because we are finally past Thanksgiving, I have been listening to a lot of Christmas music and jazz. My favorites are Canon in D and Mele Kalikimaka.
While in Brussels, I attended a Chocolate and Waffle walking tour around the city, as well as attended a museum on illuminated medieval manuscripts. I had no idea that medieval manuscripts were so heavy, or that parchment is made from animal hide!
This week, I have been reading Frankenstein. I’ve heard that the new film adaptation of the book by Guillermo del Toro is wonderful, so I have been endeavoring to finish the book before watching it.
Though football (soccer) is the most popular sport in Luxembourg, I have been exploring a different game whilst abroad. On the second Friday of each month, I meet with a group of Luxembourgers at a local boardgame café and play Uno (in French), Codenames (in German), or Dungeons and Dragons (in English). Boardgames and roleplaying games have been such an interesting way to connect with other students my age in Esch-sur-Alzette. (They also inspire me to do my French and German homework so I can keep up!)
