Our News

If you go on Spotify or YouTube and type in Wolof or Senegalese music, you'll for sure find a bunch of songs that are being played all around my village at all hours of the day and night!

What activity was the most fun this week?:

My local fitness club launched a monthly walk and exercise program open to the entire community. At the inaugural event, we walked, ran, and danced our way through our village and all the way to a neighboring village. We were led by the local fitness club coach, who made it very fun by bringing along speakers and music for the event! We went about six kilometers (close to three miles) total. We finished up with a cool-down session, juice and snacks, and a small talk about the importance of fitness. It was a blast!

What did I read this week?:

I'm reading a fictional book about an American author living in Edinburgh, and I'm reading a nonfiction book about the European Colonization of African nations.

What games or sports did I play this week?:

I played games on the NYT games app this week. The kids in my neighborhood played soccer! They play together most days after school.

Other news from this week:

The health post I work at finally got an ultrasound machine! Since I've been here, we've had an outside group bring in an ultrasound machine and personnel every few months, and most women were unable to reliably get an appointment on those days. Women in my village will soon be able to easily get ultrasound imaging of their unborn babies!
