Farewell: Bis später, Berlin

The official language is Arabic and half of the country is in the desert, and I loved being able to experience something brand new. My favorite place was called Chefchaouen, a town in the mountains where almost every building is painted blue. Even cooler, I'm traveling with two friends I met in Berlin! This is a great example of how easy it is to make friends, even if you all come from different places. Do you know anyone from a different state than you?

Currently, I am in Rome for two more days. Then it's back to Indiana! Most of all, I'm excited to see my family and friends. And my cat, of course! I can't wait to share all the things I've learned. Here are the three most important takeaways:

  1. Talk to new people. You never know the kinds of friends you'll make until you talk to people who are different than you. Now I have friends across different continents who all have something cool to teach me.
  2. Believe in yourself. When it comes to unfamiliar situations, it's easy to stick to what you know. But I've learned the best way to have awesome experiences is by going a little out of your comfort zone.
  3. Set your goals higher. When I was your age, I never thought I'd spend almost five months in another country. It seemed so impossible. But with determination and support, I've had the best time of my life here. I can only hope the same for you all.

Bis später! See you later.
