Another style of music in the south of France is flamenco, which involves guitar playing, singing, dancing and clapping. Although it originated in Spain, flamenco is popular in my area, and I was able to attend a flamenco festival last month in the nearby town of Nimes. The act I saw had a man playing the guitar and singing while a woman clapped and danced! I didn’t take any videos, but here is a link to a flamenco performance on Youtube!
In regards to mainstream music in France, people honestly listen to a lot of the same music that we play in the U.S. Popular French artists that are played alongside American ones include Stromae, Gims (my favorite!), Indila (also one of my favorites), Agele and Zaz. Here is the music video for one of my favorite songs by Gims.
I'm not too familiar with gaming's popularity in France, but my students have mentioned playing Minecraft, Fortnight, Among Us and Call of Duty. These are similar to the favorites in America, just like there are similarities in music between both countries!
I hope you all are doing well and à bientôt (talk to you soon)!
