Farewell Journal

In fact, I was so caught up with adjusting to this new environment and meeting new people that I barely gave myself alone time to fully process everything I have experienced in the past few weeks. I believe I will experience these emotions once I return back to the United States (in three months)! Until then, I hope to give myself space to slowly let these feelings out,, so that I don’t feel overwhelmed by processing everything at once!  I have been writing three things that I am grateful for every day in my gratitude journal and I also read a Buddhist scripture, The Dhammapada, at least once a week. While it is certainly important to get out of one’s comfort zone and try new things, I feel it is also important to train our emotions and prioritize our mental health. I might be in a new place, but no matter where I go I have to care for my one mind and body. Investing in my mental health and spirituality helps me bring a positive outlook to all aspects of my life!  And as I continue my journey in Japan, I would like to remind you all to prioritize your well-being and to not forget what my friend Yuka said: “Always follow your heart!” Ja Matane! (Until next time!)
