The Plants and Animals of Galicia

Introduction:

Parks and gardens are important in cities because they provide a home for many different kinds of flowers, plants, trees and birds. They give birds and other animals safe places to find food, build nests and shelter and live. Parks and gardens also bring nature into busy cities, making them greener, healthier and more beautiful places for everyone to enjoy! When walking through Spain’s cities, I always take extra time to enjoy the parks or gardens. The beautiful nature in the city makes me feel at home.

What does this creature or plant look like?:

The flowers in the cities in Spain are very colorful, from red to pink to purple to white, and are usually surrounded by many green plants. They are smaller in size but when grouped together, they become a beautiful display of vibrant colors in a busy city.

Additionally, there are many grey and white pigeons, small brown birds and even some small green birds, called parakeets, that I have seen in the cities. There are also dark-colored ducks with green heads, yellow beaks and orange feet in the river and ponds, and they love to come near people who give them food like seeds.

How did I feel when I saw it?:

I get so excited when I see all of the pretty flowers. I love being outside in nature, and it reminds me of the pretty landscapes of home outside the city.
