How People Travel in Dubrovnik!

Introduction:

Have you ever wondered how people get around a city that is hundreds of years old? In Dubrovnik, transportation looks a little different than it does in the United States. Instead of large trucks and wide highways, many people rely on buses, walking and small cars to move around the city.

How do people get around?:

The majority of people in Dubrovnik get around the city using buses. The bus system is one of the easiest and most popular ways to travel around the area. For about $9 per month, you can buy a monthly bus pass that lets you ride the bus as many times as you want. If a place is more than about a 10 to 20-minute walk away, most people will simply catch the bus.

Even though buses are very common, there are still plenty of cars in Dubrovnik. However, the cars look a little different from what you might see in the United States. I usually don’t see big trucks or large SUVs like you might see driving around Arizona. Brands like Buick or GMC are also very rare. Instead, most people drive smaller cars, similar in size to a Ford Focus or other compact sedans. In Europe, large vehicles are less common. They aren’t always necessary, and they are less fuel efficient, meaning they use more gas to travel the same distance.
