When coming to Uganda, I was nervous about trying new foods. In America, I would always eat chicken tenders, and I did not like tasting new foods. My family called me a picky eater. Once I arrived in Uganda and started learning about the culture, I realized eating food is an important part of exploring a new place. The food I tried is called posho (POH-shoh). It is found all over Uganda and in other East African countries like Kenya and Tanzania. It is a common meal in Uganda because it is low-cost and easy to make. Many schools across Uganda serve posho to teachers and students to eat for lunch. Posho is usually eaten with beans, greens and meats.
