Well friends, our time together has ended, but let us take a moment to reflect on the journey! You all have learned so much. For some of you, this may have been the first time ever hearing about Uganda. Then, you saw on a map that Uganda sits in Eastern Africa. While East Africa seems far away from the United States, you learned that it is not so different after all. There are bicycles, schools and foods, just like in the United States. Uganda even has children and students, just like you!
I want you all to know that there is so much of the world to explore. Yes, there is even much to do and see beyond the hustle and bustle of New York City! There are people eager to meet you and hear your unique stories. There is food, like posho and matooke, waiting to be cooked and eaten with neighbors. There are animals, like the Big Five, lingering in the savannah, waiting to be spotted. There are taxis and buses to be ridden to new cities. There are countries with welcoming people waiting for you to call them home and live in your hearts forever. Keep asking questions, wondering about the world around you, and know that there is a world beyond your classroom waiting to meet you!
