Hi, everyone! Today you get to meet one of my friends here in Salvador, Fernanda. She is 35 years old and studying to be a doctor. I met Fernanda when I moved into my apartment, and she is one of my favorite people I've met so far. She radiates joy and compassion, and she is always willing to help the people around her in whatever way she can. I'm so glad you get the chance to know her through this interview! I use the first-person in this interview, which is from Fernanda's point of view, since I chose to directly translate what she told me in Portuguese :)
My name is Fernanda Ribeiro Merlino.
I live in Salvador, but I am from Rio de Janeiro. The apartment we live in has four bedrooms, four bathrooms, a living room, dining room, study area, kitchen, and laundry room. It's spacious and great, but I wish rent could be a little cheaper!
I have one brother and one half brother. I'm in a particularly difficult time right now with my family because my grandma is declining. Sometimes she forgets my name, which makes me sad. My mom is very overwhelmed at the moment because she lives with my brother in a house that has two parts--one part above where my grandma lives, and the other part below where my mom and brother live.
