I have had such an incredible l time abroad! I really did not know what to expect from this opportunity: to be honest, I thought I would face more challenges than I did. To my surprise, my time abroad was a lot more fun, carefree, enjoyable and altogether easier than I ever anticipated it would be. I found that most of the time, the hardest part about getting out of your comfort zone is making the inital leap of faith.
I am the first person in my immediate family to go to college and one of the first to go abroad to Europe! All of this would not have been possible without the amazing help and support I received at my college and through opportunities like the Gilman Scholars Program. I have learned that you should never be afraid to ask for help, since, more often that not, people are happy to help.
I feel very grateful, fortunate and proud to have been able to go abroad and share this experience with all of you! I cannot believe I have traveled to Italy, Croatia, Ireland, England, Budapest, Portugal and Spain, all within the past few months. I hope I have made you all excited to travel in the future and to dream big! I promise you: if I can do this, so can you!
