In this article, I'll describe to you the four courses that I am taking while I am here in Costa Rica and some information about my professors. Although I learn outside of the classroom, too, my classes are also very important!
Systems Thinking and Sustainability:
In this class, we learn about systems and how different parts can affect the whole. Our professor is from the United Kingdom and has friends who worked for the United Nations. We talk about important issues like climate and society.
Cultural Psychology:
I love my Cultural Psychology class because I get to share my traditions and learn from my classmates. We come from all over the world, from countries including France, Japan, Spain, Germany, Oregon, Colorado, and the U.S.A., with states ranging from Florida to New York. We discover how our cultures are similar and different.
Agroecology and Sustainable Food Systems:
Our local professor for this course has a family background in farming and government. We visited organic farms, and one of them was her father's. I even gave a presentation about Costa Rica's pineapple industry. We're growing oyster mushrooms and working on a final project to create vertical gardens for small courtyards.
