Tenerife is an island of many different natural wonders. Parts of the island make you feel like you're deep in the forest, while others make you feel like you're in the sweltering-hot Sahara Desert. Today, I'm excited to share some pictures and information about the environment on the beautiful island I have called home for the last few months!

We'll start with the volcano named Teide. Teide is at the center of Tenerife and can be seen from almost anywhere on the island. From the ocean floor, Teide is over 7,500 meters tall, or 24,000 feet! This makes Teide the third tallest volcano in the world and the highest point in Spain. The volcano is one of the most iconic features of Tenerife and attracts millions of visitors each year! Surrounding Teide, you can see the volcanic rock from cooled-down magma (a mixture of molten and semi-molten rock found beneath the surface of the Earth). The volcanic rock formations give Tenerife its unique mountainous topography. It's truly a sight to see!

Driving down from Teide, you might just drive through Anaga Parque. This beautiful forested area is home to many florae on the island. It is also a very popular spot to hike and enjoy the island's natural beauty.
