Unlike much of the island, Anaga Parque offers a place to cool off due to the shade. The hiking trails, or "senderos" in Spanish, are well-marked and can make for a great day of outdoor exercise!
Along the coast, Tenerife is lined with beaches and rocky shorelines. The beaches have black sand because of the volcanic ash from previous eruptions. My favorite beach is called "Playa de las Teresitas." This beach is one of the largest beaches on the island. The beach is covered in gorgeous orange sand that was brought in from the Sahara Desert in the 1970s. I enjoy fishing, snorkeling and playing sports here on the weekends with my friends!
