Meet Gijs!

Introduction:

My name is Gijs Janssen. I am 15 years old and I am going to school to become a hotel manager. I have lived in Alkmaar my whole life. I have a British mom, a Dutch dad, a brother and a hamster. When I grow up, I want to run my own hotel.

What do you eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner?:

For breakfast, I have bread with butter and hagelslag (sprinkles/ jimmies) and an orange juice. For lunch, I have a cheese sandwich with mayo and an apple. My favorite dinner to have is actually lasagna! My parents normally make it vegetarian-style, and it's super good.

What is your house like?:

My house in Alkmaar has two floors and a triangle-shaped roof. It has brown siding and white trim. I live on the second floor in my own room. My room is right next to the bathroom, which is very convenient. My brother lives right down the hall from me and so do my parents.

What chores do you have at home?:

I have to do the dishes and feed the hamster. I also have to clean his cage, which is not my favorite thing. His name is Jan (pronounced yawn).

What jobs do your parents have?:

My dad is a lawyer and my mother is a kindergarten teacher.

What time does school start, and what time do you go home?:

Typically, a high school starts at 8:30 a.m. and then it ends around 3:00 a.m.
