Hello! Or as they say in Mongolia, sain baina uu! I am so excited to get to know all of you over the next 12 weeks and to share my journey in Mongolia with you. Now, you might be wondering where Mongolia is, and why I am here! Don’t worry, you’re not the only one. Even my students ask me, "Why did you come here?" Mongolia is a country in East Asia, right between Russia and China, two of the world’s biggest countries. It has mountains, flatlands, called the steppe, and the Gobi Desert, where you can learn to ride a camel!

Mongolia is also one of the world’s coldest countries, and the capital city, Ulaanbaatar, is the coldest capital city in the world. In Mongolia, the temperature is sometimes as low as -100 degrees, and even though it is only September, it has already snowed here! While my hometown, Philadelphia, gets cold, it never gets that cold. You might be asking yourself why I moved to such a cold place, so I will tell you! I arrived here in August to teach English for a year, and I work with university students who are studying to be teachers, tour guides, office managers, and many other things. They are a wonderful group of students, and I am looking forward to telling you all about my time teaching them! But first, I’ll tell you a little about myself.
