In the last log book, I spoke about the Czech Republic, with 90% or more of the population that speaks Czech, but this week I also had the opportunity to visit Poland, the eastern neighbor of Czechia, where most people speak Polish.
The currency in Poland is called the Polish złoty. Poland, like the Czech Republic, also kept its own currency when it joined the European Union in hopes of keeping costs low and inflation at a minimum.
A bottle of water costs seven złoty or about 1.80 U.S. dollars.
My favorite meal this week was Polish fried dumplings called pierogis that were filled with meat and cabbage.
I didn't listen to any music this week.
My favorite activity was visiting the Uprising Museum in Warsaw that described how people were able to combat German forces that occupied Poland through various underground networks and secret organizations. The artifacts donated to the museum and the collection of photography were genuinely inspiring.
