¡Hola! My name is Nick Caterine. I'm a 22-year-old from Overland Park, Kansas, and I am participating in the Fulbright Program as an English Teaching Assistant in Vigo, Spain for the next ten months! I will spend my time working at a Formación Profesional (which is like a high school that focuses more on hands-on work). I will be teaching some very interesting classes, such as fashion, culinary, chemistry, and tourism. I have never taken a class on most of those subjects myself, so I am nervous, but extremely excited to start the year and get to know the students!

As for my own studies, I went to the University of Kansas for college, where I majored in Political Science and Spanish. My university is known for our basketball team, the Kansas Jayhawks. A fun fact about Kansas basketball is that the official rules of basketball were created by the first coach at our school, Dr. James Naismith, and the rules are still on our campus to this day!

While I was in college, I was lucky enough to study abroad in Spain for a semester, in a city called Salamanca, which has one of the oldest universities in the world! I also studied in Argentina for two months, which is where Lionel Messi is from! While I'm in Vigo, I hope to continue to practice my Spanish while helping the local students practice their English. I'm super excited to meet all of you and show you what life is like here in Spain!
