Although we enjoyed our tour of the game park, we were disappointed to learn that it is owned by one white man holding on to land that is rightfully the property of black South Africans. I later found out that this is just one part of a larger land issue caused by colonists who took land from the original South African inhabitants. This legacy still lives on today in white-owned institutions like the game park. Less than 13% of the land is owned by black South Africans, although they make up the overwhelming majority.
