Next Stop: Singapore!

Introduction:

Hi, everyone! How do you usually get to school or visit your friends? In the United States, many people rely on cars to get around. However, in Singapore, public transportation is a huge part of everyday life! Since moving here, I've been using the MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) and buses to explore the city. There are a few things about Singapore's transportation system that really surprised me, and I'm excited to share them with you!

How do people get around?:

Most people in Singapore use the MRT (train system) or public buses. The MRT connects almost every part of the city, making it easy to travel without a car! A typical ride costs around S$1.50 - S$3.00 ($1.17 - $2.34 USD), depending on the number of stops you ride for. The trains are super clean, with strict rules against eating and drinking. They also have very strong air conditioning, which is wonderful in Singapore's hot weather! Unlike many American subway stations, MRT platforms have safety barriers that separate passengers from the tracks.

How did I feel when I tried this way of getting around?:

I've really enjoyed using Singapore's public transportation! One thing that impressed me was how organized everyone is. There are markings on the floor showing people where to line up, and passengers wait for others to exit before boarding.
