Hello! Or, as they say in Spanish, "Hola," or in Gallego (the language spoken in Galicia), "Ola." I have lived in Spain for one month and I have already learned so many new things! A Coruña is a coastal city in Spain, many cruise ships come to A Coruña each week. The region of Galicia is very rainy, so I always bring an umbrella with me everywhere I go! Since, A Coruña is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, the seafood is muy bien (very good). One of the most famous dishes is pulpo a la gallega, which is octopus typically served with boiled potatoes. It is very delicious! I have also been to a fútbol (soccer) match, and it was so much fun! Fútbol is a popular sport in Spain.
As an English Teaching Assistant, I work with students from 1st-6th grade. Something different about the school day in Spain is lunch time! Lunch is at the end of the school day at 2:30 unlike the USA, which we have lunch in the middle of the day. The school I teach at is a plurlingual (multiple languages) school. Students are learning three languages: English, Spanish, and Gallego. Another difference is that there are no yellow school buses! Students typically walk or go by car to school.
