One day while I was in Paris, my friends and I were walking around near Disneyland after a long day, and we were very hungry and tired. We decided to stop at a busy little restaurant called a brasserie in the 12th Arrondissement of Paris. The restaurant was packed with people talking, laughing and eating delicious food, and we waited about 15 minutes before finally getting a table. My friends and I looked at the menu together, and I saw escargot, which means snails! My friends thought it sounded too weird to try, but I wanted to be brave and adventurous. I thought, “When in France, maybe I should try real French food!” So even though I was nervous, I ordered it anyway.
I tried escargot, which is a famous French dish made from snails. At first, I could not believe I was actually about to eat snails because where I’m from, people don’t usually eat them! The escargot came on a special plate with little spots for each snail. Later, I also had steak frites, which is steak and crispy French fries. The steak was juicy and flavorful, and the fries were delicious. But the escargot was definitely the most exciting thing I tried because it was something completely new to me. It felt like a food adventure, almost like being on a cooking TV show in real life!
