The harsh Mongolian winter came to an end in early March, and temperature has been gradually climbing up in the past month. A month ago, I was still living in temperatures as low as -30 °C (-22 °F), well below freezing.
By this week, temperatures were usually somewhere between 0 °C (32 °F) and 12 °C (54 °F) during daytime, but could still drop down to around -10 °C (14 °F) at night. By my previous standards, this is still quite chilly, but having endured two Mongolian winters with temperatures as low as -40 °C (-40 °F), this past week felt unbelievably warm.
Weather is ever-changing during spring. Any given day can be windy, rainy, sunny, or a combination of all three. Occasionally, we can still get some snow as late as May or June. In fact, as I am writing this logbook, it just started to snow for the first time in April.
